Make The Road New Jersey (MRNJ)
Nedia Morsy is the Director at Make the Road New Jersey (MRNJ), a grassroots organization of immigrant and working-class people. Morsy began as a volunteer and member, then was hired as the organization’s first youth organizer and then organizing director, where she led some of MRNJ’s most successful campaigns — from including youth in the $15 minimum wage hike to securing financial aid for immigrant students and winning a fund for excluded workers.
Most recently, under Morsy's leadership, MRNJ and their allies prevented Union County from contracting with the federal government to operate an immigration detention center in the city of Elizabeth. Additionally, Morsy and MRNJ have been able to help Passaic tenants pass a rent control ordinance that limits annual increases to 3%.
Morsy graduated from Amherst College and served as a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in St.Louis.
